I’m writing this at 1:50am in bed, right after I read this quote.

I had to share my thoughts with you immediately because I think it’s something you need to hear right now.

“There are no such things as business problems, only mindset problems.”

Obviously this is a bit of a privileged take.

But reading that shocked me out of my regular to-dos and routines.

Because I tend to think like this…

“I can’t do this because…”

“I’m not smart / experienced / disciplined / good enough to do this…”

“Everyone else is doing better than me, they have more resources than I do.”

“I don’t have time to do this…”

Let me know if you can relate?

Thinking that way blocks you from progress (and cost me $10k+…)

Here are some real examples.

Learning to be proud of my work

I’m super proud of how fun I made it (points, leaderboard, community).

But then I fell into that old pattern of thinking…

“Other people’s courses are doing so much better, they have prettier websites…but I’m travelling right now and don’t have time to spend on making a post every single day…I don’t know what to write in my email promos, I don’t want to force people to buy or anything if they don’t want to and if it’s not a good fit for them.”

After reading the quote about mindset, I realized…

If I just changed my thoughts, I could’ve spent more energy on things I’m excited about,

Instead of worrying about things I can’t control.

For example, I could think:

“I’m grateful I get the chance to positively impact others, even if it’s just a few people. I need to read previous course feedback about how students said I changed their lives and helped them recover from burnout to remind myself why I love what I do. I can use the positive energy (instead of feeling overwhelmed/guilty about not doing more) to create a better experience for the students who are currently enrolled in the course.”

Prioritizing progress over perfection

I stopped posting on Instagram for a bit.

“I need good sunglight/natural lighting to film, but I’m too busy during the day. I can’t create content unless it’s perfect.”

But once I posted something at 2am with an orange nighttime laptop screen and horrible lighting.

The video still did well.

Changing how I spoke to myself

I used to think I’m not a numbers person.

“I never track my finances, it doesn’t work well with my brain.”

Giving myself that “non-finance” identity led to expensive mistakes ($10k+ in taxes an fees)…

Now, I think:

“I don’t know much about finance, but I have resources I can learn from. I can ask friends, find experts, or do a quick Google search.”

I learned to stop self-sabotaging,

And change my mindset to take action.

How to improve your mindset

I made a template to help.

It’s available in my full life tracking course,

But you can easily recreate it yourself using this screenshot as a guide:
