Your SOC 2 Compliance Checklist from Vanta

Are you building a business? Achieving SOC 2 compliance can help you win bigger deals, enter new markets and deepen trust with your customers — but it can also cost you real time and money.

Vanta automates up to 90% of the work for SOC 2 (along with other in-demand frameworks), getting you audit-ready in weeks instead of months. Save up to 400 hours and 85% of associated costs.

Download the free checklist to learn more about the SOC 2 compliance process and the road ahead.

Tip 1: document your learnings, not just processes

Instead of just writing down what you did for a project, also write:

  • Any mistakes you made, and how to avoid them

  • What you learned from the project

  • How you think it could be improved next time (if your project is a repeatable one)

You can also start a page to save all the work-related things you learn from:

  • Email newsletters (like mine!)

  • Video tutorials

  • Social media posts

  • Courses

  • Articles

Do this as you work on your project or as you come across things you learn from. It should only take a few minutes to document.

Tip 2: collect things that inspire you

As a marketer, I often see fun ads or websites that inspire me.

I save all these in a “swipe file” (this is my swipe file, if you’re curious).

You can do the same - save everything that inspires you in a page.

Tip 3: easily reference common information

These are things like:

  • Key addresses

  • Contacts or stakeholder information

  • Details about your customers (demographics)

    • Insightful learnings

    • Common questions they ask or problems they have

    • Compliments people usually give

Summary

  1. Document learnings, not just processes

  2. Collect things that inspire you

  3. Easily reference common information
