guilt-free goals for procrastinators
plus my goals for 2025
I used to set goals and feel guilty for forgetting about them until the end of the year.
But I’ve achieved my goals for the last 2 years…
Because I started using a Life North Star Metric to stay consistent with my goals.
P.S. If one of your 2025 goals is to start a content creation business but you’re not sure how because you struggle with procrastination + distractibility, check out this free event I’m hosting.
What’s a Life North Star Metric?
Think of it as your “why.”
Having a strong why makes you more motivated to take action to live the life you want.
And a Life North Star Metric helps you measure that.
Examples:
Number of people positively impacted (this is mine!)
Number of days you feel excited waking up for
Times you laughed so hard you couldn’t breathe
Number of times you stepped out of your comfort zone to grow
Knowing this metric comes from knowing your values
My values are:
Kindness
Growth
Fun
Together, they make up my metric of positively impacting more people:
Kindness means being kind to others and the planet (why I’m vegan)
Growth means being a better person to have better relationships with others
Fun means to live by example to inspire others to have fun too
You can take this values quiz to discover your own values.
How I turned it into a goal I stay consistent with
My focus this year was on my business.
But setting a goal like “I want to make this much per year” didn’t feel right.
I realized I’m much more motivated by what that money can do:
Help me have more positive impact on more people (my Life North Star Metric).
Knowing that my goal is directly tied to the results I want in life makes it a lot easier to take consistent action.
If you’re curious about my business, RSVP to this event: https://lu.ma/l9ikeeeg
Often we set goals but don’t really tie them to the bigger picture,
Which leads to guilt and procrastination.
“Go to the gym” doesn’t feel the same as “go to the gym so I can feel strong, energized, and healthy, so I’ll be able to spend more quality time with my loved ones when I’m older.”
Tie your goals to your Life North Star Metric, and watch your life change with a year of consistent action.
How was today's email? |
Til next Monday,
Jennifer
P.S. The reason why I’m hosting this ADHD-friendly content business event is because I know that as 1 person, my time and energy is limited. If I help others start businesses that also positively impact people, I can scale my impact even more. This is tied to my life purpose of helping others. So I hope I’ll see you at the event? 🥺
