Day 23 habit challenge: no excuses (within reason)

A story from one of my amazing clients

I swear I’m not toxic.

“No excuses” doesn’t mean put yourself at risk for injury or burnout.

But my “no excuses (within reason)” mindset when it came to my goals really paid off - and that’s the story I’m sharing today.

P.S. yesterday, we learned how to use AI to stay consistent. Catch up on previous posts here.

“I was scared…but now I feel like I can do this.”

One of my amazing 1-on-1 coaching clients told me this yesterday.

I was helping him build a business and personal brand online.

He wanted to post more on social media, but always delayed it.

Finally, I gave him a challenge:

Make a post every single day.

I even texted him every day waiting for his post so I could engage with it.

That level of accountability (where he made a post instead of just scrolling social media) helped him take consistent action.

He posted more in our 1 week challenge than he did in the months he spent delaying.

I did the same thing for my health goals

When I was marathon training, I challenged myself to run 100km (62 miles) in a week.

That’s around 14.3km (8.8 miles) per day.

And I did it - no excuses.

Too busy to run 14.3k all at once?

Not an excuse.

I just woke up earlier and split up my runs:

  • 7k in the morning

  • 8k in the evening

What’s a challenge you can set for yourself?

Examples:

  • Eat an apple every morning for 2 weeks

  • Meditate 5 minutes every evening before bed for 1 week

  • Post once a day every day on social media for 1 month

It should be outcomes-based and measurable.

Challenges like “work on my content business for 15 minutes a day” never worked for me, because it was unclear what I’d be doing in those 15 minutes.

Something like “post every day” or “send 1 email” was more tangible.

Reply with what challenge you’re taking on, I’d love to hear it!
