Day 2 habit challenge: importance of beliefs

Welcome to day 2 of the habit tracking challenge!

Yesterday, we picked a habit to stay consistent with (and if you’re a day late, don’t worry - catch up on yesterday’s post here and leave a comment).

Today, I wanted to share a story about why the way you think about yourself matters.

How I went from uwu shygirl vibes to public speaker

When I was in high school, I was always the shy nerd. I saw myself as one, so I wasn’t that popular.

But in university, someone told me they saw me as a leader. They defined a leader as someone who led by example, and not someone who’s the loudest in the room.

That changed my entire perception of myself, and I went on to speak in front of my graduating class of thousands of people.

I hate this pic but needed to put proof here lol

By believing and changing my self image, I was able to accomplish things I never thought was possible (including going viral on IG for my unhinged organization).

Your turn: what does your habit say about you as a person?

Identifying with a personality trait makes it easier to stick with a habit.

Ex) you want to exercise 30 mins a day → identify as an active person

This worked for me when I became a marathon runner - it’s how I got myself to train every week.

I also posted my marathon training journey all over my social media, so I was held accountable and everyone else saw me as the “marathon runner” identity which reinforced my beliefs.
