breaking limiting beliefs
once I realized this, I felt unstoppable
You feel stuck sometimes.
I do too - no one has it all figured out.
Today I want to share a story that gets me out of that rut every time.
“I can’t do that.”
When I was a kid, people didn’t know I could speak because I was so shy.
But when I graduated university, I spoke in front of my class of thousands of people.
If you told my childhood self that, I would’ve said “I can’t do that.”
So what changed?
Always ask why
In my second year of university, someone asked if I could be a mentor.
“I can’t,” I said. “I’m not a leader.”
But they pushed me, saying “a leader isn’t someone who tells others what to do. Leaders lead by example and help others. You’re already a leader.”
Once I started seeing myself as a leader, I said yes to more opportunities…
And eventually spoke at my graduation.
But you shouldn’t have to rely on someone else to push you to grow.
Instead, always ask yourself why.
Why do you think you can’t do something?
Where does that belief stem from?
Do you have evidence to back it up?
Can you find a creative solution to make it happen regardless?
Example: starting your own business
I was talking to someone who spoke in absolutes.
“I can’t make progress on my business because I have to post on my social media and it’s cringe.”
But why?
Surely there’s a creative solution.
I told him “just post on TikTok where no one you know sees it, and repost the best-performing videos on other platforms.”
I think that blew his mind…
When you make space to question yourself, there are so many creative ways you can make progress.
There aren’t many rules for how you choose to live your life.
Many things are temporary, so you can give yourself permission to try things and then move on,
Instead of staying stuck saying “I can’t.”
That’s all for today! Thanks for reading ❤️
