3m viral video = how many followers?

the surprising difference

Announcement: ADHD Content Creator course is launching Monday, March 17. That’s the deadline to enroll (and also when the price increases from $299 → $997). Check it out here if you feel stuck making progress in your content business.

I made these 2 viral videos.

  • 3.3 million views, 111k shares, 21k saves

  • 4 million views, 38k shares, 119k saves

Guess how many followers each video got me?

(Because of course I tracked it.)

3.3 million video: entertainment

It was about the absurd things I track in my life, presented in a humourous way.

4 million video: authority + experience

This video felt less entertaining to me.

It was more “useful” - me sharing a cool thing I did (my experience).

And people saw me as a leader.

Which video got me more followers?

If you guessed the authority video…

You’re right.

The entertainment, meme-y video got me 3.7k followers.

The authority video?

44.4k 🤯

What about this 1.6 million video?

It was posted on TikTok, not Instagram.

16k shares, 9k saves.

Why such a big difference (way lower follow count)?

The TikTok profile this finance video was posted on was a personal profile.

The bio was like “vegan, marathon training, etc” - completely unrelated to finance.

(I’ve since changed it to be finance related haha.)

Takeaways

  1. Share your experience (show off authority)

  2. Optimize your profile

  3. Saves are a good indicator of how “useful” people find your content - their rating of your authority

ADHD Content Creator course deadline Monday March 17

If you enjoyed this breakdown, I’m exposing more in the ADHD Content Creator course.

Price is $299 right now.

First module drops March 17.

After that, I’m increasing prices to $997.

Hope to see you there,

Jennifer
