How I plan for May 2024

I usually compile all my weekly reflections (“what gave me energy? What drained energy?”) and list out my monthly milestones.

I’ll set a goal for the month in different areas of my life (health, career, relationships) and break it down into daily or weekly habits.

Example

If your goal is to exercise more, break it down into habits like:

  • Go on a walk at least twice a week

  • Check in with friends about exercise goals every week, to stay accountable

Like last week, I started the 75 hard challenge and wanted to be accountable. So I posted that I was doing it everywhere, which made me pressure myself into staying consistent (even though I knew no one was going to constantly check to make sure I did it).

If you want that kind of accountability, I’ll send you an email reminder every day starting on May 1st! Sign up here.

Reflecting on April 2024

I felt discouraged - I didn’t accomplish what I wanted to in April.

But when I look back on my weekly reflections, I realized I did a lot.

I learned so much and tried different things in my content business and in triathlon training (discovered I’m a fast swimmer).

It helped me understand myself a little more and encourage me to keep going in the next month.

This is why it’s so important to me to do weekly reflections - it helps me zoom out and see my accomplishments instead of focusing on my failures.

Where did my time go in April 2024?

Here’s what I spent the most time on this month:

  1. Sleep

  2. My content business

  3. My full-time job

  4. My relationship

  5. My friends/family

Does my time tracking reflect my priorities?

Yes!

My life north star metric is number of people positively impacted.

I’m doing that through my content (sharing tips) and my job (helping people find careers in tech they’re passionate about).

I also learned a lot about how to be a better partner and friend by spending more time and practicing my communication skills.

(Would you be interested in a deep-dive into communication? I learned so much this month and I think most people aren’t taught this. It’s kinda personal but I’d love to share if you’re interested - just reply “yes” to this email!)

See you in your inbox again next Monday!
